This weekend I went to a friend’s wedding (it was such a beautiful day!) and while there I happened to meet some of the lovely people behind Life Threads – a new Fairtrade clothing company based in Melbourne.
Their premise for quality and fair clothing is simple: “We wanted clothes that looked good, were affordable and made sure that the people involved in making them had a decent quality of life”. They’ve been scrupulous in ensuring every stage of the production process is fair, with the majority of the production happening in India in fair work environments, and the final designs printed on the shirts in Australia. The shirts are Fairtrade certified, organic certified and feature limited edition design prints – what a brilliant combination! They have a great range of shirts including design prints, basics and plain t-shirt styles. For now their range is currently in mens sizing (which can still be easily wearable for the ladies!) but the team are working to bring out a ladies range in 2014. Go take a look at the range and get behind this great Fairtrade initiative!
